Bone healing following an insult/fracture is a well understood complex biological process which is influenced by several inherent factors and mechanisms. To support healing process several implants(inert materials) and methods are employed for reduction and immobilization of a fracture which is the basic foundation for the onset of healing. By experience it is an observation that some of the methods and implants employed might cause a deleterious effect resulting in delayed healing, especially when the fracture biology is not well analyzed. This is because some of the methods are damaging and some of the implants do not match closely to the modulus elasticity of bone. It is well understood that too rigid a fixation causes poor callus and a weak union (union without Callus) where as too loose a fixation may cause a non/delayed union. Apart from implants and interventional methods there are other factors too which are modifiable and non modifiable which have a bearing on fracture healing. This foundation is formed to subject fractures to a detailed scrutiny considering all the factors responsible for healing and there by deduce sound biological principles for efficient management of different fractures, in different ages and different bones. These will be recommended to Orthopaedic fraternity. Proved recommendations are very useful to Orthopaedic surgeons in future. Thus, this foundation provides a platform for study in depth the fracture healing in various scenario among orthopaedic surgeons and other specialists allied to the subject, to render financial assistance to the poor patients for surgical procedures, to provide medicines etc etc, to develop a facility for health care and preventive medical services (including dental services).
Objects of the Trust
- To provide a platform to support and encourage biological fixation of various types of Fractures and other biological procedures used in the management of bone and joint pathology.
- To encourage research to study the fracture healing process with biological and develop appropriate methods /procedures for managements of fractures.
- Assistance to hospitals in setting up the various facilities such as orthopaedic surgeons Center’s for the poor patients.
- Provision of outdoor dispensary or assistance thereof and also to run mobile medical services;
